Restorative Dentistry

Is there something missing from your smile? Our restorative dentistry options can help bring your smile back to life. By promoting oral health, our restorations balance your smile and ensure proper functionality. Each restorative option is customized for your needs, to make your smile work for you.

Because we believe in your natural teeth, we work to strengthen your existing teeth with our restorative dentistry options. Whenever possible, we’ll try to save your teeth and encourage oral health focused on the longevity of the teeth you were born with. If that’s not possible, and your real teeth have to be removed or you’ve already lost some, then we’ll find the right solution for to keep your smile healthy. Smiles that are healthy look best.

We subscribe to the theory that if it’s not broken, it doesn’t need to be fixed. We’ll never try to talk you into getting extra work done. We focus only on your teeth that are affected by disease, wear, or damage. That way, we can get your smile in tip-top shape.

Visit Dr. Richard S. Crosby today and discover the benefits of restorative dentistry from our Anchorage dental office.

One Day Crowns

Crowns are little “caps” that fit over a tooth that has experienced trauma or damage. By protecting the tooth with a crown, we’re able to extend the life of your natural tooth for several years, sometimes even a lifetime. Our office is equipped with CEREC technology, which allows us to craft a ceramic crown in just one appointment. You’ll walk out of our office with a fully restored tooth that looks and functions just like your healthy natural teeth. We use 3D imaging and computer-assisted design (CAD) programs to ensure the crown is fitted just right.

Fillings

In our office, we use a new type of technology to fill a cavity after we remove the decayed pulp. Fillings are very common restorations, but our ultrasonic tooth-colored fillings are more durable than traditional composite material and can fill a deeper cavity more effectively. Don’t let decay take over. Getting a filling is easy, and we’ll keep you comfortable throughout. You’ll be back to your routine right away.

Porcelain Inlays/Onlays

Sometimes, the decay in your tooth may be too large to remove and fill with traditional fillings. If you experience large areas of decay, we may opt to fill the cavity with a porcelain inlay or onlay restoration. An inlay sits inside the chewing surface of the tooth up to the cusps, while an onlay covers the surface and the cusps of the tooth. With our CEREC technology, your porcelain restorations can be made right in our office. Dr. Crosby will bond the restoration to your tooth, and in many cases, it actually helps improve the structural integrity of your tooth.

Bridges, Partial Dentures, and Complete Dentures

Whether you’ve lost all your teeth or just a few, we have options for replacement. Full dentures replace entire arches of teeth and support the structure of the face, allowing patients to speak and eat naturally. Partial dentures are used to replace a series of teeth and are removable.

Bridges are permanent replacements which use two crowns as anchors for prosthetic teeth that fill the gap left by missing teeth. The crowns are bonded to healthy teeth adjacent to the gap. Bridges stop healthy teeth from shifting, causing difficulty in speech and functionality.

Root Canal Therapy

Getting a root canal isn’t something people look forward to. But when it comes to saving your natural teeth, a root canal may be the way to go. Depending on your situation, we may be able to complete the whole process in a single visit, minimizing discomfort and time invested. When the root is diseased or damaged, Dr. Crosby will remove the infection and fill the tooth appropriately. He may suggest a crown restoration for additional support.

Makeover Dentures

When you lose your teeth, your muscles and tissues in your face can sag, causing you to appear older than you actually are. We offer a new kind of denture, one that is custom fit to support your facial structure better than traditional dentures. Makeover Dentures are more secure than ordinary dentures, and they won’t slip or come loose. You can eat, laugh, talk, and enjoy life like you always have.  Dr. Crosby is the only dentist in Alaska who is trained to fit and place Makeover Dentures, which is one reason why patients travel from across the state to receive our care.
