From filling cavities to dentures, Dr. Crosby uses the most advanced technologies to restore any damaged tooth in the most conservative way. Every treatment is personalized and tailored to you. Dr. Crosby will discuss your options and give you his recommendation, but the ultimate decision is yours. You are always in control of what therapies we use to help you.
Ultrasonic Tooth-Colored Fillings
Dr. Crosby uses a new technology and material to fill cavities called SonicFill™. SonicFill is a fluid resin that flows into your tooth to fill a cavity. Independent studies have confirmed that SonicFill has the ability to fill deeper cavities and is a durable, aesthetic approach. Dr. Crosby will discuss all options for filling a cavity with you.
Many patients avoid having cavities filled because they’re apprehensive about drilling and pain. Instead of a syringe, we use The Wand for painless local anesthesia, and our drills are much quieter and more comfortable than what you might be used to. If you experience any pain or anxiety, please let us know. It’s what our team is here for!
Instead of Crowns - Porcelain Inlays/Onlays
When the points (cusps) of your tooth or one or more sides need restoration, we place custom-created porcelain inlays or onlays, depending on how much of the tooth needs to be covered. Using CEREC technology, they are crafted by Dr. Crosby himself, and then bonded to your tooth with advanced resin. They are strong, attractive and permanent, and can often be used instead of crowns or “caps”.
One Day Crowns
If you require one or more crowns, you’ll find that at Richard Crosby, DDS in Anchorage, it’s not the time-consuming, multi-visit process it used to be. Using CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) technology, crowns can be made in just one appointment by Dr. Crosby in the office! The process uses state-of-the-art 3D imaging and computer-aided design (CAD) software to design and then create the crown.
Bridges, Partial & Full Dentures
Dr. Crosby prepares both partial and full dentures for patients who have lost all their teeth, or sections of them. Dentures are essential to support the structure of the face, and help patients speak and eat naturally.
A bridge is made to replace a missing tooth (or teeth). It’s made of two crowns that are fixed to the teeth on each side of the gap, with a false tooth in between. Because a missing tooth can cause other teeth to shift and make it difficult to speak and chew, bridges are an important part of dental restorations.
Biohorizons Dental Implants
Designing and placing a dental implant requires a high degree of technique and technology. Dr. Crosby uses Biohorizons dental implants for their accuracy, shorter surgery time, and shorter recovery time. In independent studies, these particular implants were proven to be more lightweight, comfortable, and durable.
Nobody looks forward to root canal treatment, but it may be the best way to keep your tooth intact when the root becomes diseased or damaged. Dr. Crosby can perform root canal therapy with minimum pain and discomfort. Depending on your personal situation, the work may be completed in just one visit!
We take every care to assure that you’re relaxed, comfortable, and as pain-free as possible. If you’re feeling anxious or experiencing pain, we can help you! Just let us know.
While we do everything to preserve natural teeth, there are occasions when a tooth needs to be removed. Dr. Crosby performs minor extractions as well as major procedures such as bone grafts to support future implants.
Strickland Facelift Dentures™
Tooth loss is devastating emotionally and physically. Without teeth, we lose important facial support they provide as the bones underneath begin to deteriorate. Even with traditional dentures, that process continues, causing wrinkles and sagging skin.
Disclaimer: The Strickland Facelift DenturesTM services are in no way related to Dr. Sam Muslin’s exclusive Face Lift Dentistry ® treatment.
Strickland Facelift Dentures™ are a revolution over traditional dentures that help maintain the shape of your face. Not all dentists are trained in the placement of Strickland Facelift Dentures™, but Dr. Crosby has received both the neuromuscular education and technical training to ensure successful Strickland Facelift Dentures™. He is the only dentist in Alaska who can offer and place them; many of our patients travel great distances to Anchorage to get their Strickland Facelift Dentures™ from Dr. Crosby. Best of all, Dr. Crosby can complete your Strickland Facelift Dentures™ in as little as 2 weeks! This is a fast timeline, but you will receive the highest level of personalized attention and care.
The fear of pain can cause patients to delay treatment. Some patients fear the numbing process as much as the treatment!
We take extraordinary care to help you feel relaxed and pain-free. Instead of traditional numbing techniques, we use The Wand, a computerized and comfortable method of local anesthesia.
If you are especially nervous before a dental procedure, you’re not alone. Just let us know and Dr. Crosby can give you a mild anti-anxiety medication.
