Here is a good example from this week how teeth with old, mercury fillings can create cracks in teeth.

We repaired both of these molars with custom-made ceramic crowns and a composite resin filling on the smaller premolar.

Symptoms of cracked teeth like these often involve increased sensitivity to hot and cold, as well as pain during chewing.

If you notice symptoms like this, don’t wait!  Those small warning signs are the body’s way of telling you something is wrong.  Once the aches and pains have started they can be difficult to reverse with simply crowning the teeth.  Too often more extensive treatments like root canals can be required.

We routinely repair teeth like this in a single visit, using a technology called Cerec (see Crowns in a single visit) and it takes about an hour and a half.

Dentistry has come a long way and these days teeth don’t have to hurt.
