Dental Cleaning
Did you know the health of our gums and our hearts are closely linked? Unhealthy gums can leave a direct portal for bacteria to our bloodstream, adding extra work for our hearts. Keeping regular visits to your dentist can help protect against heart disease, too!
A thorough cleaning twice a year is essential to maintaining the health of your teeth and gums. Our professional cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup, leaving your teeth sparkling and refreshed. Our hygienists are skilled at getting into the hard to reach areas between your teeth and in the back of your mouth.

Comprehensive Exams
Dr. Crosby will examine every part of your mouth, teeth and gums, and provide oral cancer screenings. Comprehensive exams are an important part in diagnosing potential problems and forming a treatment plan. We use these exams to monitor your oral health and note any changes. Our bite is closely linked with the health of our temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ). Screening your TMJ to avoid future pain is critical to your overall health.

Digital X-Rays
We like details. That’s why our digital x-rays provide sharp, high-resolution images that show us every aspect of your mouth. Digital x-rays aren’t only about better images, though. They also decrease the radiation to patients by as much as 80% over traditional x-rays. Who can say “no” to better quality that is healthier for us? With cone beam technology, you’re exposed to less radiation than traditional x-rays, and Dr. Crosby gets to see panoramic, 3D pictures of your teeth and jaws and helps determine the bone structure and density as well as measurements for surgical procedures.
With cone beam technology, we can take low-radiation CT scans showing us full, 3D images. Now we can evaluate not only the teeth, but also the bone supporting the teeth. Planning for implants is a lot easier now since we can evaluate important structures like the sinus and important nerves. Did you know our cervical (neck) vertebrae are related to our bite, our TMJ, and our airway? Now we can see all three in 3D!

Intra-oral Cameras
You should be able to see exactly what the doctor sees. This way, you can make informed decisions about your treatment and dental care. In order to help you make these decisions, we use tiny handheld intra-oral cameras, to see every detail of your teeth. You’ll get to see the exact same thing on a monitor from the comfort of your chair.

Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer is a serious, life-threatening disease. The earlier it’s detected, the higher the possibility of successful treatment. We provide oral cancer screenings to all our new patients and as part of a comprehensive exam. Our visual and manual screening techniques, along with Vizilite technology, check for abnormal tissue around your cheeks and gums.

Fluoride Treatments
Many households across Alaska still rely on well water without fluoride. Professional fluoride treatments protect against decay and are essential for healthy teeth and mouths. Fluoride restores vital minerals to the enamel of your teeth and helps prevent cavities. We provide fluoride treatments to teens and adults as needed. If you are experiencing painful sensitivity to hot or cold foods, fluoride can help. Ask us how fluoride can alleviate sensations resulting from changes in temperatures.

Mouthguards
As an athlete, you need to protect your teeth from damage. We can custom-create mouthguards for nearly any sport. These comfortable, easy to wear mouthguards help avoid injury to your teeth that can lead to costly repairs.
Mouthguards used to be used for those who suffer from bruxism, or nighttime grinding while you sleep. Bruxism can erode and weaken your tooth enamel, and lead to jaw pain and soreness during the waking hours. We now use something called an Orthotic, which reduces and often eliminates entirely unconscious clenching and grinding. You can read more about these here.
