Over-the-Counter Tooth Whitening
If you’re thinking about tooth whitening, then you might consider the over-the-counter (OTC) options. Though these tooth whitening methods seem more cost-effective in the short term, they are generic and don’t know your smile like your dentist does. This means that OTC whitening products could either damage your smile or produce no results.
First, these methods could damage your smile. Since OTC whiteners don’t follow a prescription, the gels and serums don’t account for sensitive teeth or gums. The stronger whiteners could strip the enamel off of your teeth, leading to more cavities. Additionally, depending on your gums, these methods could cause irritation and inflammation, leading to gum disease.
On the other hand, you may see no difference in your smile at all. Some of our patients decide that tooth whitening simply doesn’t work after trying several OTC methods. Over time, trying many different methods adds up. When you finally try professional tooth whitening with Dr. Crosby, you will love the beautiful results.
Professional Tooth Whitening with Zoom!
Dr. Crosby uses Zoom! Teeth Whitening both in the office and with prescriptions to use in the comfort of your own home. Whichever method you choose, your smile can be up to eight shades whiter at the end of your treatment.
In-Office Tooth Whitening
When you visit Dr. Richard Crosby General & Cosmetic Dentistry, we will first examine your smile. Our dental team will help you determine the best treatment, showing you the effects it could have on your smile.
Next, we’ll follow a few steps to ensure a safe and effective treatment. If you choose in-office whitening, then Dr. Crosby will carefully prepare your mouth and gums before applying a layer of advanced whitening gel to your teeth. Then, we’ll enhance your whitening process by shining an LED light on your teeth.
Dr. Crosby will repeat the steps of applying gel and using the LED light three times or until you reach your desired shade. After your treatment, we will apply a soothing gel to reduce any post-treatment sensitivity and protect your enamel.
At-Home Professional Tooth Whitening
If you prefer the comfort of your own house rather than a dental chair, we can send you home with a professional tooth whitening kit. At home, you will wear trays with whitening gel once a day for two weeks.
First, you will add a drop of prescription gel to your whitening trays. Next, you will carefully place your trays on your teeth for the amount of time Dr. Crosby prescribed, which is usually about 30 to 90 minutes. After you take your trays out and rinse them with cold water, you must brush your teeth for any remaining residue.
With at-home whitening, your smile will change slightly each day over a two-week period. Our patients usually love the fact that their friends and family won’t notice a sudden change. Instead, you’ll get a whiter smile without the shock factor.
With easy, at-home steps, you can have a smile up to eight shades brighter. Next time you visit us at Dr. Richard Crosby General & Cosmetic Dentistry, ask your dental team about our affordable and effective tooth whitening services.
